Today we’re revisiting a warm, elegant, and masculine office created for one of our Gwinnett County interior design clients. In case you missed our latest Before and After, here’s a reminder of what this space looked like before remodeling:
That’s right, we transformed this unfinished, ultra-feminine former bedroom into a pulled-together, masculine study. Here’s a little more information about the project.
As previously mentioned, the leather effect on the walls was created by Atlanta faux finish expert Kass Wilson. We absolutely love how rich and warm they are, and the abundance of brown instantly creates an elegant, masculine ambiance.
While the extensive use of brown and wood tones provides a masculine energy to the study, it’s also easy to end up with a muddy looking room if you’re not careful. Taking our cue from the gorgeous, high-end carpet, we balanced the browns by bringing in subtle touches of red. The custom-designed chairs are upholstered in a lovely red fabric with brass nailhead trim, the custom draperies are lined with red, and even the ornate wall clock features bright red accents.
Another interesting feature to note in this remodeling project is the transition from wall to ceiling. By painting the crown moulding the same hue as the walls, it gives the illusion of a higher ceiling.
